Louisa County Public Schools hosted motivational speaker and basketball extraordinaire Corey Jones on October 15th and 16th. During his two-day visit, Jones spoke to all elementary students at the school division’s four elementary schools. Jones, who played high school basketball with LeBron James, tours the country delivering a message of empowerment and camaraderie!

Throughout his message to students, Jones showed off a few of his incredible basketball skills! At each stop, he pumped more fun into the event by inviting students and teachers to join him for a few tricks! Jones also put kindness into action, frequently taking breaks during his presentation to distribute prices, such as basketballs, custom pens, and a motivational book he wrote himself!

Jones is one of several motivational speakers visiting LCPS this month to commemorate October as National Bullying Prevention Month. LCPS booked speakers throughout the month for students at all six of the division’s schools.

Jones said he sees his job as a privilege, one where he is able to join his passion for basketball with a wholesome message.

“I have one of the coolest jobs,” Jones said. “For one, I get feedback almost instantly on how it goes, and normally it’s positive. You get hugs and you get to make a kid’s days! I don’t think a lot of people get to do that, and I do and it’s a really cool experience!”

Jones has been a motivational speaker for five years. So far, he has visited 40 states and does about 90 presentations a year.

“I love that I can go a thousand miles across the country, and the experience is always the same. The kids have a great time and appreciate the message,” Jones said.
