PEBT Card Information

PEBT Card Information
Posted on 09/19/2022

On August 25, 2022, in conjunction with our partners at the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) issued Summer 2022 Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits to over 700,000 school-aged children. Each eligible student received a one-time benefit of $391. Due to a card processing issue, many new and existing P-EBT households did not receive the summer benefit issued on August 25. For some households, this required that the card vendor issue a new P-EBT card to the address provided by the eligible student’s school district. We expect that P-EBT clients will receive all benefit cards by no later than September 30, 2022.

Because of the large volume of benefits issued on August 25 and the delays in receipt of benefit cards, Local Departments of Social Services (LDSS) have had a large volume of P-EBT related calls and walk-ins. In addition to the previously announced public-facing and  Frequently Asked Questions, as well as the FUSION Summer P-EBT FAQ for LDSS and P-EBT Issuance Job Aid, VDSS is pleased to announce Public Affairs created a Summer 2022 P-EBT Partner Resource page.

The Summer 2022 P-EBT Partner Resource page is intended for use by LDSS and local school systems. It currently contains:

  • P-EBT Processing Issue Flyer that LDSS may distribute or place throughout their lobby.
  • P-EBT Processing Issue Social Graphic that LDSS may use on their Facebook, Twitter or other social media accounts
  • P-EBT Processing Issue Phone Script/ Email message that local school systems can use to communicate with the PEBT parents and guardians.

Local Departments and school systems do not need VPN to access this information; however, VDSS has hidden this page from public view. LDSS and school systems can only access this information by going to the address listed below or clicking on the link provided above.
