Good afternoon #TeamLCPS!
This is a reminder that Wednesday, September 18 will be an Asynchronous Learning Day at Louisa County Public Schools. These are days where – while there is no in-school instruction – we provide all students with the opportunity to participate in some pretty amazing community service projects! Accordingly, we have developed a program of activities for students of all ages to participate in on September 18th.
At the elementary level, our students will be participating in several initiatives to promote one of our favorite annual holidays, Constitution Day! First, students will be delivering handwritten letters of appreciation to our local government leaders. Additionally, on September 18th, students will have the chance to meet with local community leaders -- such as county administrators and elected officials -- to learn about the Constitution and how our local government works! Students will also participate in various patriotic activities during the day as well as we celebrate America!
On September 18th, JES and TJES students will meet at the Louisa Arts Center (212 Fredericksburg Avenue) from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. M-NES and TES students will meet at the Louisa County Administration Building (1 Woolfolk Avenue) from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Anyone with questions about the event should click here to email LCPS Director of Elementary Education Heather Spaid.
At the secondary level, our students and staff will be volunteering their time to assist at various local organizations, including:
Louisa County Animal Shelter
Louisa County Parks & Recreation
Louisa County Resource Council
Lake Anna State Park
Louisa Arts Center
Louisa Historical Society
Anyone with questions about the secondary projects should click here to email LCPS Director of Secondary Education Lee Downey.
We are honored to have the chance to better our community and put positive citizenship on display! Stay tuned for highlights coming up on September 18th.
